I would be very interested to hear what other scrappers are planning to do (or are doing) with the pages they create.
Do you print at home? Send out to print?
Do you follow the 12x12" size or something different and why?
Are you saving to a CD or DVD for TV or computer viewing only?
The possabilities are endless with all the digital age has to offer, but I'd really like to know what 'you' are doing with your creations :)
Hi!
I do a variety of things- I have a large format printer, so I can print at 12x1 and recently printed a Disney scrapbook at the full size. I also print at 8x8 for books for my family. My dad takes it with him to show his friends, so I thought it would be easier to carry. :) I recently used the html photo gallery option in PSE to create a gallery for my family to view on the web. I'm also doing 8x10 layouts for a 2007 calendar for my in-laws; they've come to expect a family calendar every year!

My Epson R800 doesn't print wide format -- or edge-to-edge -- so when I print something I usually format it 8 x 10 to print centered on a letter-sized paper. I put them in plastic sleeves in a notebook if I'm not framing them.
Sometimes I make a large collage for printing poster-size. I found a nearby lab that does nice work, but it's expensive. Sony Image Station does a nice poster print (not terribly expensive) in a size that doesn't seem to have easily found frames, but I suppose you could trim it.
Most of what I do is for my website, not for print.

I have a Canon i9900 that prints 12 x 12 pages. I print 12 x 12 pages and make a scrapbook. If the pages I have created are for someone special, such as my granddaughter, beside the printed scrapbbook I use ProShow Gold and make a slideshow for her of the pages that I made.
I also make a DVD of each scrapbook.

I haven't had anything printed yet nor have I printed it myself. But .... All my layouts are 12x12 that way I can resize if I need to to a 8x8 or 6x6. IKEA has these great clear 6x6 acrylic frames that hang from the ceiling. It is 2 sided and will hold 10 photos. that would be 10 6x6 scrapbook pages! I am planning on printing out some of the fun pages of my boys that I have done in a 6x6 size and hanging them in their playroom.
Christine- Thanks for the tips on the Ikea frames- that would be perfect for some Christmas presents and for hanging in my daughter's room.

I LOVE IKEA .. and the price on these is right too .. you can probably find what I am talking about on their website. It is called Finlir Fladdra and it is about $6.99 each.
I Love your idea Kay about putting in your daughters room. What a great accent it would be!

Oh, I wish there was an IKEA closer to us. Ah well, I can always shop online but I love going to that store.
I print all of my pages except those done just for a challenge online. I've done 12 x 12, 8.5 x 11 and am currently enthralled with the 8x8 size. I think I'll stick with that.

I usually print at 8x8. I have a frame that stands on my kitchen counter and I put the current layout in it for the family to ohh and ahh over!
I've done a variety of sizes, but now that so many companies are offering square format bound books I will probably stick with 12x12 - that way I can always resize to something smaller. I will probably print my kids baby books in 12x12 or maybe 10x10 - and then have a softcover copy in a smaller size printed just for me. :D (100 page 8.5x8.5 soft cover at viovio.com is only $30).
Their baby books (they are 9 & 29 months old as of today) are my most major project right now. I also do yearly family albums and then special softcover of any major vacations - this year it was a trip to Jamaica when the baby was only 8 weeks old.

I just finished a book of my friends grandkids. I had a friend who works at Kinko's print them for me so I got a bargain. Some I did print on my HP Photosmart, but it does use alot of ink. I've been making most of my birthday & holiday cards and printing from home too. For my recipe book, I'll probably go to Fed Ex Kinkos again.

Hi Ladies!
It looks like y'all have some great ideas. I definitely will have to look into the Ikea frames. I know my grandson would really enjoy having those in his room. Especially LO's of him fishing!
My digital LO's are created in 12x12 format. I still enjoy paper scrapping, sooooo... I print my LO's 8x8 and then use them in my 12x12 albums. I find coordinating papers to mount my digital LO on as well as use for borders ... then add an embellishment or two and .. viola! LO done! And done in less than half the time! If I know what papers I want to use then I will coordinate my digital page to them. But then again, I have SO many papers and elements that finding something has never posed a problem for me.. lol! I have also made some 8x8 albums for friends using the same proceedure but printing my LO as a 7x7.
I also am making dvd's of each album. This way I have both a "hands on" album (which the grandkids just love) as well as an album set to music for viewing. I make a decorative label for the dvd and a pocket on the inside album cover to slip the dvd into.
One last thing... Creative Keepsake came out with some scrapbook shadowbox type frames. They really work great! They come in the different scrapbooking sizes, 12x12, 8x8, and etc. They have a bg paper and a few embellishments included and all you have to do is drop in your pics ... although I use my own papers and elements. I made these last year for each of my kids and grandkids. They loved them!
Thanks again, ladies, for sharing your great ideas!!
Hugs around...
Linda... :)

I do all 12x12 layouts in pse and then resize and print them out as 8x8, (I think it is a hangoover from my paperscrapping days.) I do the odd few in A4 size as well. But I now have 4 8x8 albums each with over 80 pages in that are so easy to handle that the kids are always flipping through them. I have had some printed at Harvey Norman, when they had a half price enlargement offer(I had 8x10's printed and chopped off the excess), but usually print at home on my canon pixma. Chris

Well, I do a number of things with mine but I create my layouts in different sizes too. I've been creating 4x6 layouts (initially 8x12 and resized) since I was inspired by Ginger Thibodeau and I have those printed at Wal-Mart and give them out in brag books for holidays and such.
My 12x12 pages I have printed at Scrapbooks to Share because they have a really SIMPLE process (no preparation involved) and they are inexpensive as well! I also plan on having some 8x8's printed there too.
I rarely print off of my printer at home because it is a Lexmark that is several years old. While I have been pleased with the ones that I have printed it is time consuming and a lot of effort with trimming and can also be VERY expensive. I've found it to be cheaper to have them printed with S2S.
I have a frame that I got at Wal-Mart in their frame department originally designed for album covers that I put my most prized layout in. It is the first thing people see when they walk in the house.
I print my own cards on my printer at home.
I also do DVD albums, slideshows with music, etc. I use Windows MovieMaker or Photo Story 3 to do these with. They are WONDERFUL programs and work really well!
You can check out some of the slideshows I've done on my blog under Videos. My blog is here: http://craftymomtwo.multiply.com. By the way, this is a GREAT blogging site because there are several pages, different ones for blog, photos, videos, reviews, etc. It's AWESOME if you don't have a blog yet and, if you do, most of them can be imported there! (Did I mention that it's FREE???)

I print my layouts out 8x8 size and put in a scrapbook. I usually keep the cute ones of the grandkids on my refrigerator in a plastic sleeve so I can enjoy them. I recently read an article that the 8x8 layouts can be adhered to an 8x8 canvas(like painters use) and can be hung on a wall. I think there is a book out called Scrapbooking the Walls. I think I'll try that next.

I get mine professionally printed at 12x12.
I often re-size them to 6x6 and print a copy for the album I keep on my desk at work.
And sometimes I re-size again to 4x4 and make albums for my grandchildren.
I know people who print at Costco and Walmart and what they do as the print size there is 12x18 is:
Open a new canvas at 12x18. Drag your 12x12 layout onto it.
Then resize your original to 6x6 and drag 2 more copies onto your 12x18 canvas. Then you get 3 copies of your layout for the price of one. (something like 2.99 I believe)

Kay - love the HTML Photo Gallery idea
Christine - The 6x6 frames sound really fun, will give them a try for Christmas
Wags - VioVio.com so glad for this link! I can't wait till I have enough pages completed so I can give their coffetable book a try!
CraftyMom - Scrap to Share another great link! and I LOVE your pages shown in the slideshow!
Sure wish I had a large format printer like some of you... maybe I'll add it to Santa's list :)

Wow, as a new digital scrapper I can see there are a lot of good ideas out there. And CraftyMom2 those were some great pages. Finally bought a digital camera a year ago and PSE 3 months ago. I am learning so much from this site and PET. A little overwhelmed when I look at gallery; some wonderful LOs. But I really love the idea of doing the whole page on the computer instead of pulling all the supplies out and setting things up. I think a printer that can do the 12x12 is on my Christmas list. I like instant gratification....;)

Does anyone make movies out of their photos? Are there any guides or web sites for that. I have used Nero Photo Show and have used the Photoshop Premiere trial pkg. and Movie Maker.
I haven't printed any out yet but have made slide shows with them. About the movies Adobe has a program called Premiere elements which you can make movies with your photos. Reading the reviews it looks really cool. You can get this as a bundle with Photoshop Elements 5 if anyone is going to update to that version of PSE.:D That's what I'm hoping to do. Scrappinmomma2

I have done movies from normal photos several times. Latest with Photoshop Premier. It is so nice and easy to be done.
I have scrapped only about half year, so from scrapped ones I have not tried to do anything yet.

My scrapping began this year, I think in April?
I have done about 30 pictures now and a little about 20 pcs I sent to netlab and got wonderful pictures home about three working days later.
My whole idea to scrap began from an idea to do a photostoy from my adopted little girl. To this story I have now about ten scrapped pictures done.
I use 20 cm X 30 cm size, it is 11,811 x 7,874 in inches.
I have a place in net, where I write about our live as a family and to there I put some of the scrapped pictures to be visible to family and friends.
These our adopted daughters pages are waiting the next coming ones and I will put them to an normal album and to the next page I write story connected to the photos.
Some of the scrapped pages are in our hall wall and I think I will continue to work from every year something there so there will be a story of growing kids doing things during years(we have three kids).
Some of the "collection of pictures" even then scrapped ones are visible in our pc:s, when we open them.
So I have used them quite many ways too, even I have not printed even one myself yet! The printer is on my shopping list.
The only problem is, I do not know, which one I should buy? I have thought I buy a laser because of the use on ink it will be more cheaper to use.
I am not so creative as many of you and I use many normal pictures in one page and really simple way the embillshments and so on to be added to the page, so mine pages will be very much like beginner work for ever.
I really am surprised how good the first ones looked printed!
Bye,
K

I print most of my layouts in 8x8, although I scrap in 12x12....then I either put them in an album as a gift, OR I take the 8x8 and put it on a 12x12 paper page and add a poem, journaling, ribbons, etc. to combine the two techniques.

I print 12X12 & 6X6 on a canoni9900 . Since the paper I get is 13X19. I will print a 12X12 page with two 6X6 pages to get the most out of my paper. It is a little more cost effective. My large pages are the kids scrapbook and the smaller ones may be abc books or gift books. I also to slide shows. I love having that hard copy to look at and share with others. My kids love looking at their scrapbooks too. Someday I want to do a hard cover book - probably of our wedding but I'm not there yet.

Does anyone make movies out of their photos? Are there any guides or web sites for that. I have used Nero Photo Show and have used the Photoshop Premiere trial pkg. and Movie Maker.
I've been working with Premiere Elements 2 in conjunction with Elements 4. I can't wait to get the new upgrades...maybe for Christmas.
I like Elements to set up the still photos because the pan and zoom is so great--much easier than pan and zoom in Premiere. You can control what you want seen on the photo, avoiding the section you don't want by setting the start and end squares. I usually also set this to music. I then export the slide show to Premiere and combine it with videos and add more music as I see fit. I also like the ability to make your own front page and scene selections in Elements to use in Premiere. I really like the rolling credits at the end, where you can give credit to the music pieces and/or people in the video.
I also use Premiere to edit the VHS tapes I capture and then save to DVD. This is a project to save the old VHS tapes and 8 mm camcorder tapes that are deteriorating. My family really enjoys watching the old tapes, but editing them makes them so much more enjoyable. Also, all the kids can now have their own family stories on DVD.
I finished a scrapbook with my mother's old photographs, following through with group pictures of our family until she died at 99 yrs 3 mos. I used this as a shower gift for my brother's twin great grandchildren, expected in October. I also included a family tree for them from both sides of the family. Of course, I knitted a couple of things to go along with the memory boxes I made. The book really made a hit with the family. Not the traditional shower gift, but I figured a gift of my time was more valuable than any baby stuff I could purchase.
The problem with being so creative is that people outside the family ask if you can do the same for their special occasion! How do you handle this requests?
I thought retirement would be taking it easy, but I am busier than ever.

If you can resize them to 8x6 inches, you can have them assembled into a book for $9.99, yes really!
If you have a mac (like me), use the book feature in iphoto and choose the page style to be one photo per page, full bleed, then insert your scrapbook pages as jpegs just like you would a regular photo. You can choose a larger book, but the 8x6 (a soft cover book with paper rather like high quality magazine stock), is so reasonable you could order multiples. Time taken is around 4-5 days. I have made 3 books so far of vacation photos and have been very happy with them, I send them to my family in England, they cost less to mail than regular prints and cost less to print, standard size is 20 pages, you can add more.
For PCs, Mypublisher.com is comparable.

I usually print out my pages on an Epson R800 in 8 x 10 size on 8.5 x 11 paper and put them in sheet protectors and put them in 3 ring binders.
I have given several binders as gifts to my son, daughter, Mom.
I also print out accordion books that I fold and glue hard covers using scraps of wallpaper. The paper is 6" by 36".
I get all my paper from Red River Paper online. I have never been disappointed.

I do 8 x 8 and 8 x 10 depending on the album I am working on. I have them printed at Costco. I also save all layouts to an external hard drive and burn a dvd.
For slideshows I use Photo Story 3 from Microsoft. It is a free program that is very user friendly:

I also use Audacity, another free program to edit music to add to the slideshows:

Hi,
I make mine in an 8X8 format. I purchase 8X8 scrapbooks from Michaels, Walmar..wherever I find them. I make one for my grandchildren evrytime they visit. I am currently making one of my son's Japanese wedding in 2004. The 8X8 size suits me best. I print them at home. I checked with my camera store and they wanted $4.50 a page. I plan to see what I can do on line.

I created a calendar that hangs on the refrigerator. The botton of the calendar is the months. The top is a clear side loading page protector adhered to chipboard. The chipboard is slightly bigger than the protector, and the months pages are adhered to the bottom with brads. When I make a new layout, I put in the page protector to enjoy before it goes in the album. I just recently saw a 8 1/2 by 11 plexiglass sige loading sign holder at office depot that already has two holes for the bottom pages. I am going to try it next.

Wow, I'm new to digital scrapping also and am amazed by all the creative ideas so many of you have. I was always a wannabe scrapper :o and had no idea this other world of digital existed...it's much easier and less time-consuming than traditional scrapping, especially for us craft-challenged scrappers. Because my exposure to digital scrapping came with my involvement in a company called Heritage Makers, I've never actually printed my pages since I can actually build my digitally scrapped pages (12x12, 8x8 or 11.5x8) and upload them into a hardbound book. Another cool thing is that now people can actually build their pages right online - directly into 12x12 or 8x8 books using artwork provided by Scrapgirls without having to upload their pages or use any other software program. As I'm still struggling to use Photoshop Elements (boy, what a wicked learning curve), this has been a lifesaver for projects I need to finish quickly :). When I have my book created just the way I want it, I hit "publish" and then wait anxiously to get my "baby" in the mail. Boy, I love technology!
Anyway, I can't wait to learn from each of you experienced gals as I venture further into this new world (for me) of digital scrapbooking!

Hi Ann. I just wanted to share with you that I also make 8x8 albums but I use an 8x10 format then upload my photos to Costco's photo center. They print 8x10's for $1.49. If you don't have a Coscto in your area, maybe you can have them mailed to your address. I usually pick mine up at my local store but I have seen an option to have them mailed to me when I'm uploading and placing my order. When I get home, I trim them to fit my 8x8 albums. Hope this helps. Lis

First, I print out a color/draft and attach all my notes about desgner information, font used, etc and keep that copy with Linda's Instructions for each week.
I'm scrapping now in 8X8 format, so I then print out a quality copy to put in my scrapbook on photo paper (acid free, of course.) I also have scrapbooks going for my son and his new wife, so I print them out a copy if they are my subject.
I have a scrapbook for my great-niece, whom I am close to, and if she is the subject of my layout, I also printout a copy for her scrapbook.
I am also copying and pasting Homework notes, etc for each week into Word and saving them for future refeence.
Not even a month ago I didn't know ow to put photos behind QPs and now "wow" I made a brush and used one for the first time.
Hope this helps.

I have been doing my layouts in the 8x10 size so that I can get them printed on regular photo paper. My printer is great, but fickle. I can put the pictures in any 8x10 frame and then when I am done with diplaying them, I mount them on a matching 8.5 x 11 sheet and put them into protective sleeves for the notebook album. WalMart prints them for instore pick up @ $1.96. I don't get to Costco very often, but I will consider them an option if I have a big batch to load. Thanks for the info.

I print mostly on 8 1/2 X 11, and put them in a regular scrapbook. I also print the pages and the individual photos (the ones used on the pages and any that I may not have used but pertain to the page themes) on a DVD.. I also would like to make a slideshow of some of the pages for out of town relatives, but haven't tried my hand at that yet. I print my pages on an Epson R320 photo printer, the quality is awesome I think, and the ink is archival and won't fade (so the say)

I'm still pretty new to scrapbooking & have been doing mostly 12x12 layouts and then resizing to 8x8 for printing. I have a Canon printer and after some bad experiences in the past am sticking to Canon inks and Canon papers. My daughter liked one of my layouts and wanted to frame it in 10x10 size....I found a company that did it that size and she was delighted with the result.

I have the R800.
Look in properties - there is a box that you can check to choose borderless.
I find anytime the printer won't print borderless, it has more to do with the creating software you are using - than with the printer itself.
I find PSE4's printing software cumbersome, but it may be I just need to learn better how to use it. I don't have as much trouble printing borderless using Card Factory or Picture It.

I print my LOs in 8x8,for 2 reasons. 1) I don't have a wide format printer. 2) I've started just an album for Xmas. I haven't looked into sending them out to get printed. I have to demand that they get mailed to me because I don't drive.
