Upgrading to CS3 from PSE4

I'm considering an upgrade. However, doesn't look like it qualifies for an upgrade from PSE4. I wonder if they will eventually include it? Anyone know?

Who is using CS3? Love it/hate it? Also, feedback from Mac users would be great :)

I've been using CS3 since it came out in Beta. LOVE IT!:D There are several new things or improved things that I can never go back to CS2! Every time I use my computer with CS2 I think, DUH this version won't do that!

Hi Rachelle ...

They tend to offer an upgrade to Elements users shortly before the next version of Photoshop comes out ... but I am afraid that you have missed it this time around. The offer was $299 to upgrade (US & Canada only)

Why not hang on and see if they do another offer later this year :)

I took advantage of the upgrade offer at $299 from elements 4 and am also a mac user. I am so glad I did that and was able to get the beta version of CS3 because of that. I do like the beta and think I will upgrade to that when it comes out. There are several things in it that I really like. I also think that bridge will be even better altho I have trouble with the beta version of it.

Could you please explain what a beta version is? I keep hearing it, but dont know. Still a rookie, I suppose-lol.

Also, I wonder if I call, maybe they'll still honor it? Wishful thinking?

Hi Rachelle ...

When software is being prepared for issue it goes through a series of testing. The beta version is the version that goes out to a series of people who test it prior to its issue ... they try to find any problems that may occur with it so that they can be sorted out before it goes on general release.

For CS3, this time, Adobe have allowed anyone who had CS2 access to the Beta version ... that is very unusual. Its usually just done by their own pool of testers. I understand that the opening up of testing this time was because of the issues of finding enough Mac users with Intel Macs ...

Thanks Wndy that helps. I'm contemplating a new computer too. I dont think my current one would handle CS3.
If I understand right, the regular version is not out yet....? Do you have to have the Intel Mac for CS3?
