too many files in organizer?

I haven't even started to scrapbook yet, just busy downloading and organizing. I already have 3666 files in my organizer, and maybe it's just me, but it takes forever for the photo browser to open up! I have all of my digi scrapbook papers and elements in this photo browser too, so that is another reason why there is so much stuff. Should I just delete all of the digi scrapbook stuff and just keep it on my desktop instead, and leave the photo browser just for actual photos?

Have you done a File->Catalog->Recover? I would do this every so often. It cleans up and compacts the database file.

Some people find organizer slow, some do not.

Some people have more than one catalog...a separate one for scrapbook stuff. I don't put any scrapbook papers, etc., in my catalog.

Have you set your organizer to watch folders? (file>watch folders) If so, it looks at those folders when opening and ever so often while you are using the program.

If you keep your computer in good shape, i.e., defragging, and have sufficient memory, it helps. I have 4GB of RAM, so loading my 20,307 images doesn't take long at all.

No, you definitely do not want to keep all your scrapping stuff on your desktop. Make sure you keep everything in a file on your C drive, like My Pictures or My Documents, or better yet, back them up on disks or an external hard drive!
