I saw that ScrapGirls has text paths that you can purchase for PSE. I have been wondering whether this is an option in PSE. I am unable to find anything that states PSE has text to path options. Am I missing something? Has there been a tutorial that I've missed?
Hoping there is!
I went on over to ScrapGirls to check this out. I do not think this is an action of PSE. I'm not quite sure what format they are using - maybe a layer or brush but one the type tool in PSE will be able to use. Gwen

PSE does NOT have text on a path. You can get paths that you can modify (type in your own text), but I've heard from others that it is very slow. Text on a path is in PSP and PS.
The text tool will allow you to warp, which does some nice things. And if you are creative you can use the polar coordinates filter to make path follow a circle.

It depends on which version of PSE you use. For some reason using the purchased paths in 4 in painstakingly slow, yet it works like a dream in 3. I have not tried them in 5.
Elements 4 does not play well with plug-ins. That's why I gave it up after a week and went back to Elements 3, which does. So glad that it's not a problem in Elements 5.0 either.

So do you guys think it's worth the money to buy the ones from ScrapGirls if you have PSE 5.0?

Sorry, we cannot endorse or recommend products from other sites here at Scrappers Guide. I know how great text on a path looks for now it's stuck as a feature of the full-blown program. Be sure you try out all the VERY COOL warping ideas for text though within the text too, and with a little practice, you can move and warp text so it will conform to some edges you do in a layout.

You can also do text in a circle in MS word and then import it into a layout

lindylou, how do you create circular text in MS Word? I've been attempting to do this since I saw your post an hour ago and I can't figure it out! I am a bit 'cloudy' or fuzzy today, but I can't figure it out! :-)

I is very easy to create a circular text in PSE. Open a file, create a new layer, type your text. Then go to Filter>distort>polar coordinates and choose rectangular to polar. Click ok and you are done. For warping text, type your text and click the warp tool (it's the last tool in the options bar or in pse 5 choose Layer>type>warp text). Try the different styles and change the settings until you find something you like.

Right here goes
in ms word go to view>toolbars> wordart
insert word art by clicking on blue A first icon on tool bar
type text (if you use the first one you can fill it with colour later in pse)
rt click on text to put box around it
click on other blue A second from right icon
choose donut/ring shape
drag out corners to put text into a circle
click on text>copy
open up pse>file>new>image from clipboard
use magic wand tool to select white background>select similar to include middles of letters like a e d g etc
hit delete to remove white you are then left with the text on a transparent background
use the paint bucket or magic wand to selct the letters to fill with colour if desired
move to LO
This is very long-winded but I hope it helps!!!!!!!
I have posted a LO here (http://www.scrappersguide.com/forums/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=10933&cat=500&ppuser=89)in my gallery to show text in a circle

Great, great instructions Lin - I got a circle to work perfectly in Word and pasted into PSE without a problem. Thank you! I knew Word was multifunctional, but I would never have put anything together to get a circle out - how cool!
Thank you so much - I think others will enjoy the tutorial as well.
Also, your bubble layout is adorable! :-)

You can go to this site and see a video on doing circular text in PSE4. The site is slow to load so you will have to be patient.

Margeeo - that video was great too. Wow - in one day I've again went from 'I wish I could do that' to 'Cool, I did it!' I now have two different methods to use when I want.
Thanks Barbara_Ostlund for asking your question - and everybody in here to help point us in the right directions. Awesome!

Can I just say...WOW! I had no idea it was that simple. Thank you for the info.!
Also, I didn't realize i was asking for an endorsement. I meant to ask if purchased text to a path was quick enough in PSE 5.0. Sorry.
