Could anyone give me recommendations for a reliable, photo printer? I'm not looking for a wide format one though. Because when I started digital scrapping I only had my Epson 900 photo printer so I forced myself to use letter sized paper rather than the standard 12x12 so I could print from my home. Plus the letter sized paper and albums fit better on my bookshelf.
It doesn't have to be an Epson (mine is on it's last leg). Any photo printer that you LOVE I would LOVE to hear about it.
Thanks so much,
Connie

Hi Connie,
I think a lot of us can relate to that, I use a HP photosmart 3210 All in One
to me all the HP printers are very good, but this particular one give you more for the buck, it come with five ink cartridge, and they are very inexpensive
($10 the color and $17 the BW, but you can buy the whole set for $35 and it come with 150 4X6 photopaper)
Is very fast and the color match and resolution are great, print up tu 11x15"
and have a separate tray for 4X6" paper also have a card reader and a display and is network ready, but it can be used without computer too.
Any way I higly recomended, I'm very happy with mine, hope this will help you to decided, but a good tip is shop around on internet for Photo printers read the especification and compared before you made a choice, tha is the smart way.

I have the HP Photosmart 7260 and have been very pleased with the results.
So far, I'm an epson girl all the way. Just make sure you're using one of their models that uses pigment inks (durabrite, durabrite ultra or the new one... can't remember the name), and I don't think you can beat Epson for durability and longevity. My pictures are waterproof!
I have the picturemate and an all-in-one cx7800. Would love to have a wide format... someday!

I use an Epson Stylus Photo R300. I am really happy with the prints, but have to say my Canon i9100 still steals my heart for color accuracy, speed of printing and ink consumption. I have not had any problems with the Epson but find it works best and is happiest when using Epson papers. Other papers give you a slightly off-tone color.

I just got an Epson 7800. I like it alot. i really wanted a large format, but couldn't justify the price.
I read on the internet some pretty harsh comments about this machine (and all the rest for that matter), and was very confused. But this I bought with a 30 day trial, and love it.
The all in one is very nice, and you can scan prints, negatives and slides. That was really a plus for me.

Hi Donna:
I'm curious, why durabrite inks?

The durabrite inks are guaranteed not to fade for something like 100 years.

Epson is a really good inkjet printer, but I prefer a good color laser printer.
Mostly because I get great quality prints, but also toners are much more economical.

I bought a Konica 2300 color laser about a year ago and find that it doesn't do nearly as good a job as the ink jet - especialy in the fine details. It also costs about twenty cents a page - the toner cartridges cost $300 for the four and you get about 1500 pages.
I use generic (Costco) glossy pohoto paper and generic Epson ink (Abacus.com on the internet) and my cost per page is maybe 6 cents.
Hope this helps in your decision making. I personally would recommend a good Epson.
I have found Steve's digicam reviews (http://www.steves-digicams.com/hardware_reviews.html) helpful for both cameras and printers.

Would you care to let us know what laser printer you use?

I Use a Konica Minolta MagicColor 2400. I work in printing, so the CMYK works for me

I have a Canon Pixma iP6000D and I really like it a lot. I only use the Canon inks and Canon papers...although I do also use the Epson Photo Matte paper with really good results. The printer uses 6 ink cartridges which I usually find on Amazon.com for a good price (about $10.00 each).

I just purchased a new printer. HP D7360 it prints with the new ink that last for over a hundred years. I also have an older HP photosmart 1215 that prints great. The new inks are not available for this printer. I always use the best HP paper and inks because the inks are made for the paper. For the guaranteed ( to last along time) to be good you must use them together.
Also for quick photos I have the epsom photomate. Great to take to parties or on vacation to print on the go.:)

I've always been an HP kinda gal.. lol... I have the HP Photosmart 8450 and I really like the results I get. I have to admit though, I have been reading in my scrapping magazines about the wide format printers and Epson gets high reviews. I'm SO looking forward to getting mine! Can hardly wait!!

Epson all the way! I have an older PhotoStylus 890 that does a remarkable job. Last year I bought an R800 Epson Photo Printer with the Ultra Chrome High Gloss Inks and it prints unbelieveably gorgeous. There really are a lot of good printers available, I have just always loved Epson. Hope this helps.

Hello I use a Epson r340. You can go to Sam's club and get all the inks for $67.00 approx. Has six colors-cyan lt. and dark and light and dark magentaand yellow and the black colors are $13.00 each. I do a lot of printing in all sizes and print out a lot of pictures. I like the epson printers because they do not roll the paper around the drum and the colors come out great for me. You can also use the printer as a stand alone or use the usb plug and run from the computer. you also have a screen to see what picture you choose and size and other options. I also will accept the SD card and lots of others from the camers or PDA"S . Check it out you might like it.
