Somewhere in the forums I thought there was a mention of the need for instruction on using the tablet with PSE. Does anyone know of any tips or tut? I have never really understood the settings, so I don't use it much. Maybe,...... someone could do some instruction about the tablet????????
:( Michelle

There are some really good tips and tuts at Wacom's website. They even gear them toward the tablet you have.

I don't know about PSE but I just got a Wacom for my birthday a couple of weeks ago. I had trouble in the beginning because it's similar to learning to use a mouse again! It's very touchy which takes some getting used to. I have used it for erasing so far and it is so precise. I am still in the learning phase myself but I know it will become second nature in a couple of months. The tablet comes with some instructions but I think it is a practice thing. While I'm still naive myself, I hope this helps. Simply put it is a very precise mouse.

I was super-awkward when I first used my Wacom pen tablet, too. The thing that helped me most was to first resize the active tablet area to a smaller area, which seemed more natural to me. Here's how you get to it. Programs/tablet/pentablet/pen/pen mode/details/tablet area/portion/set/drag handles. Before I resized it, my hand was going all over the tablet like the computer screen was huge. Then, I practiced moving around the screen on a game I played, which you can play on-line for free, called Chainz. Or some other game where you move the mouse/pen all over. This really helped me fast, and now it's second nature. Hope this helps you a little. :)

Do you change the brush options in PSE every time you use the brush? These options seem to be for the brush more than the lasso, clone, ereaser. What setting do you use? Any tips on setting the Wacom Properties? I think it's all the settings that confuse me....

There are two great tutorials on using the Wacom tablet over at Photoshop Elements Techniques (http://www.photoshopelementsuser.com) - but they are for subscribers only. (Personally I think a subscription is well worth the money!! Besides the magazine you also get access to over 200 video/written tutorials.)

I bought a tablet this summer and haven't had enough free time to learn to use it. With this new forum I hope to be inspired to play around some and use the tablet and pen. I would love to hear what other people are creating using this resource.

I love my wacom tablet, although I am not as proficient at it as I would like to be. It just takes practice and getting used to. For me it was an "eye hand coordination thingy." I do use other tools with it, like the lasso tool. As a matter a fact, it was Linda's tut on torn papers that finally made me go out and buy one.. :) I have been learning to make doodles using the pen and tablet as well. Those are fun because they don't have to be so exact and precise. And it's a fun way to work on your coordination skills.
Also, thanks ladies for the helpful tips and sites! I think I need to get a notebook started... I am running out of stick-its... and my desk is covered.. lol!! Thanks again!
Hugs around.. Linda.. :)

i have a tablet and love it for doing intricate work on a LO. however, i am sure i am missing some stuff. for example, there are two little "buttons" on the pen that i cannot figure out what they do. also, if i highlight some text, is it possible to somehow copy it to paste it using the pen. i find i turn back to the mouse in these instances. it was a gift from my dh last christmas and i just love it (and him, of course).

I have one button on the side of my pen. It is similar to using the left click on my mouse. Maybe one of your buttons is like that. It's worth checking into.

I think you'd find a trip to the wacom support desk helpful, Connie. I still have trouble with the buttons on mine too. Try this: (http://www.wacom.com/tips/index.cfm?category=Photoshop)

I just bought one of these tablets and when I was setting it up the tut said something about setting up the buttons on the side of pen for right and left clicking.... I haven't used the buttons yet, but I'm pretty sure one of the things you use them for is right and left clicking, but you have to set the pen up first to do this.....
