I have searched this forum and cannot seem to find the answer to my problem.: I am using the clipping technique to insert a photo into a circle. Next I want to surround it with a stroke-outline. I have tried many ideas, but cannot seem to get this to work. Can anyone help me? I am sure it is probably easy, but this newbie is having a hard time with it!!
Thanks in advance for your replies.

I'm not sure which tutorial you're following but here's how to do the stroke outline.
Ctrl click on the layer thumbnail to select the outside edge of the layer and you'll have marching ants around your circle. In your case if you've grouped the photo with the circle you may have to select the circle layer.
Make a new blank layer-this is important because it gives you the ability to make changes to the stroke.
Go to edit>stroke outline selection and choose a color, size and location for the stroke. With a circle or oval shape the location isn't all that important. If you are putting a stroke around a rectangular shape you'll want to use inside location to keep the corners square.
Click ok and the stroke ends up on its own layer. Tap Esc to get rid of the marching ants.
