Loading 5.0 instead of 4.0

I'm hoping there is a simple solution to this...

If I don't already have PSE 5.0 open, when I open folders on my computer--PDF tutorials, .png and .psd files, it opens PSE 4.0. I have removed the shortcut option on my desktop, but it's still happening. Is this because I loaded the 4.0 after the 5.0. Will this continue until I remove 4.0 or is there something else I can do. I want it to default to 5.0, but have no idea how to accomplish this.

Any suggestions?

(When some of my added brushes wouldn't load properly d/t "not being made by PSE 5.0 version", I reloaded 4.0 so that I could have access to the brushes. Though I haven't done anything with it yet, I plan to re-save them while in 5.0, if it's possible.)

Sounds like a file association issue. Try this:

Launch PSE 5, then go to Edit..File Association. Make sure the file formats you want to have open in PSE5 have their box checked. Maybe it would also help if you launched PSE 4 and went to the same menu and Unchecked those same file formats from its menu.

Another way is, if you have windows, just right click on the file and menu opens up. It was and option that says "Open with". Click on it and a drop down menu opens us. It will show both PSE 4 and PSE 5 and just choose the one you want.

Your best bet is still the file-association (in control panel--folders) to make it always launch the program you want to work in.
