Blending modes

I have a floral page I've deplicated and added a blend mode to the top one, multiple. Then on top is a swirl page that I've changed to hard mix and absolutely love the look. BUT if I try to merge down to make the 3 one, it changes, more swirls so up. Is there another way that works? (Mac PSE4)

Hi ...

One of the problems with blend modes is that when you merge then down the effect can change... try putting a blank layer beloe the first one then merge down then try merging down again :)
