Rotating a shape in PSE 5

Checked my resources...book, Help all of which seem to indicate you can rotate a shape, but when I try by selecting that layer only and flipping horizontally, everything flips. What am I overlooking?

Okay...you know the minute you finally post a question, you think of trying a different way and it worked. I went back and undid the shapes basically starting from ground zero. Then before I did anything else with them I flipped them and it works.

I was wrong, it's still flipping the other layers also.

Digi,

Use "Flip Layer Horizontal". It's just a few menu items down from "Flip Horizontal" (Image->Rotate).

Make sure you have selected the layer you want flipped.

That's what I've been doing and even with only the layer I want selected, all of them flip. I'm wondering if there is some box that is checked or not checked that is causing it.

I'm at a loss then because the Layer Flip always worked for me. Maybe someone else has an idea.

Okay, I read hurriedly. Now I see when I go to Rotate that further down...just as you said it addresses the layers. Thank you again for your help. Not that it's an excuse, but we have a brand new puppy, 8 weeks old, and needless to say I'm a bit sleep deprived. I'll try again now that I've seen the light!

There are two sections to the rotate menu -

Everything above the line rotates the canvas

Everything below the line rotates only the layer
