Hi -

Can someone help me? I've been at this off and on for months and I want a final understanding.

I have many duplicated pics. I am trying to decide which one to keep and which ones to delete - not wanting to delete the original of course.

For example: I have a photo (presumably the original) named "IMG_2385.JPG" and it is 1.5mb;
I guess at some time I renamed a batch of pictures and saved it as
"Hikes Near Peters to print001.psd" and it is 21.7MB.
What happened?
Why is the renamed one so much larger? I have not ever opened it to edit.

Likewise, I have a photo named "IMG_2595.JPG" (presumably the original)
and it is 2.1MB.
I guess I copied or duplicated it at some time (reason unknown as I have never worked on the pic - it has only been downloaded)
and it's name is "IMG_2595-1.JPG", but it is 4.5MB - larger than the original???

Thoughts anyone or words of wisdom???

Thanks so much,

Stacy

Stacy,

.psd files are large - even if it's just a converted jpeg. There is no compression. I'm guessing for the second one, but if you duplicated it and saved it at a 10 or 12 level compression, it probably "grew" - less compression than the original.
