I did a search, the answer is probably somewhere in the forum, I've checked my tutorials, but I have been unable to find it. I'm doing the Designer's challenge. I have the png and I've purchased and downloaded one of Lie Fhung's beautiful kits. I've worked with templates so I know how to deal with each separate part. In looking at some of the entries, I notice people have been able to write on the back notebook paper area so that it goes under the photo. Since this is a png and shows up as a single layer, how are they doing that?
Help is greatly appreciated.

---:D -- It's usually done by "faking it"

Try this way (one of many--that works quite nicely for this type of job project)

Set up your page, drag the whole png over to your layout--it just becomes another layer and then:

Pick up your type tool, and type your text that'll go onto the paper. Commit the text and then rotate it slightly to get it on top of the paper positioned as you want it to. Now rasterize/simplify the text layer and take the eraser, brush away any lettering that is falling over the decorations on that template, and your text will look like it is on top of the paper.

Cool huh!
Hope this helps!

Okay! Thought there was some big secret. How simple!
Thanks! I'll try it.
