Hello -

I think I might be getting closer to cleaning up the mess I have.

I backed up my organizer today (it took 4 hours!) and when it was done I just have a list of my photos and no folders or tags! I thought when the organizer was backed up it saved the folders and tags from the organizer. What did I do wrong?

Thanks,

Stacy

Stacy,

People have had problems with the Organizer backup. I just use other software to backup my hard drives (I just back up everything).

When it does a backup, it somehow makes a copy of the organizer, and then renames all the photos and flattens the directory structure.

Did you back up to CD or external drive?

Hello Trish -

I've heard people talk about problems with organizer, but I didn't realize this was one of them. It's ironic because earlier today I backed up all my photos on an EHD to make sure I didn't lose them and they were saved in their folders through Windows. I specifically backed up the Organizer to make sure I saved the Organizer folders, tags, etc. with the photos.
Go figure!

I'm still trying to clean up the many duplicates of photos and to get the organizer working well.

I did save the "tags" file separately although I don't know how good that will do.

I was thinking of deleting my existing organizer and start new which is why I was backing it up.

I don't know if I should try backing it up a second time?

One other question: I have my pics on three different drives, my HD and 2 different EHD's. What I discovered today is that some of my photos in the organizer are connected to a EHD and when I save then over to my C drive and then to the Organizer it says the pics are already in the Organizer. How do I get all my pics on the c drive so that I don't always have to have one or both the EHD's on when using the Organizer?

Thanks so much,

Stacy

Stacy,

To move the photos from the EHD to your internal HD, use the Move command within the Organizer.
