Photo Bin

I started out trying to follow some instructions for making a scrapbook page.
I was to open all of the images I planned to use so they are visible in the photo bin. How do I get photos to photo bin?
I'm trying to take one step at a time.
I am such a newbie that it is starting to get frustrating. I tagged 5 pictures and went to open them in Editor and they were not there. Kept telling me about"searching for unmatched photos" Can someone help me please?

I'm having the same problem with PSE6 --- I down loaded the trial version as I wanted to see if it would convert my organizer and with much pain I finally got it to work, now my problem is that when I click on something in the organizer it doesn't go into the editor???? I've checked the bin down at the bottom to see what has been transferred over and when I click on it nothing happens??? Can anyone help me???? Thanks a bunch

Darry,

In PSE 6.0 you have to double click to bring the photo into focus. You might want to go to Windows->Images->Cascade or Tile mode.

Right click on the photos and choose "Open in Editor" and that will open them into the Editor's photo bin. I'm not sure about the "searching for unmatched photos" message. Might be that you clicked a tag checkbox in the right hand side?

I've tried double clicking on the photo in the organizer and all that does it bring it up as a single item. I've also tried right clicking and there is nothing there that tells me to oped in editor??? Am I looking in the wrong place???
So frustrated! Thanks Trish for helping me to get the catalog to convert. I did the recover and also the reconnect and then it worked for me. Now I can see everything but can't get it to move over to editor!!!!! I'm wondering how long it's going to take me to get this PSE working???

When I right click on a Photo in the Organizer, I see an option that says "Full Edit".

I just tried clicking on "Full Edit" and nothing --- I hear some churning but it doesn't take me to the Editor or when I go to the Editor and click on the bin to show from organizer there is nothing there. Could there be some adjustment that needs to be made somewhere or could it be that the trial version doesn't allow me to do this??? I've contacted Adobe but, of course, they won't give me any answers unless or until I purchase the product. I'm wanting to be reassured that I can in fact use the organizer from 4 in 6??? Thanks once again for your help --- I'm anxious to get this to work so I can purchase it and be done with it??

Sounds like something is weird, but unfortunately you can't uninstall and then reinstall the trial version. Try just doing a File->Open in the Editor to open a picture.

Did you turn off your antivirus before you installed?

I have been able to use the editor by opening photos and working that way but I have all my elements stuff organized and it's a real pain to try and figure out where all my papers and elements are by opening them one at a time in the editor. It's such a joy to be able to scroll down and see everything I'v accumulated and work that way. No I didn't turn of my anitvirus before I installed either?? Do you think that could have created this problem??? I'm wondering if I should just purchase the PSE6 version from my local Office Depot and be done with it??? Do you have any encouraging thoughts??? Do you think I might have something in the preferences that might need to be changed???

I would guess that your anti-virus is indeed the culprit. It is very important with PSE to disable your anti-virus during install.

In the Organizer, you can at least make sure you can see the path of your pictures and scrapbooking items by going to the upper right hand corner and clicking on "Display" and choosing Folder Location View, and then under the "View" menu, choose "Show File Names" and then you can maybe find them a little easier.

I'm still struggling trying to get my photos and elements from the orgainzer to the editor. I've noticed when I'm in the editor in the lower left corner there is an arrow that you can click and it says show files open, show files from organizer and then it lists some of the files that appear in the organizer but not the file that say my photos which is where all the photos from the organizer are located. Can you tell me how to get that catalog called My photos to show up in that area??? I'm just wondering if that is why I'm having this problem. This is so discouraging -- I'm not sure I want to invest my $$ in the updated program if I can't get it to work right??? I've been working on this for 5 days now and don't seem to be getting anywhere? Thanks again.

Just to review... The organizer is just a Catalog that points to your photos - it doesn't actually hold the photos. When you say "My Photos" - are you talking about the folder on your hard drive or did you actually name your catalog "My Photos"?

From what I can tell from the PDF help file that I downloaded from Adobe, that option menu you see is for use in "Projects" in the "create" tab in the editor. It tells the project which pictures to use. It won't help you. I really think that the communication between the Organizer and Editor is not working for you.

I find the organizer is a great tool, now that I have all my papers and elements and alphabets, etc. organized --- my external hard drive where I have all my files stored doesn't have them organized in that manner, they are organized only by the designer and therefore I can't see them all together such as all the papers or all the alphabets etc. I guess that's why I'm still not ready to give up --- I'm just feeling that somewhere, there is something that needs to be turned on or off and I can't seem to find the answer. Having to go through each designer each time I'm wanting to use something seems just too time consuming, since I found out just what the organizer is capable of doing. Thanks for your continued help.

I finally bit the bullet and uninstalled the PSE 6 trial version and then turned off my anti virus stuff and reinstalled --- it all worked even the catalog came back but I still can't get from the organizer to the editor after choosing files I want to use in the editor???

My anti-virus scanner is running right now, so I can't try out the Organizer with the Editor, it's too slow.

I'm not sure why you can't choose "Full Edit" and have it go into the editor. I'll try it a little later.

Can you post some screen shots of what things look like? You can do a "prt sc" button, then create a new file from clipboard in PSE's editor and post them at http://www.pixentral.com/ and then copy the links back here. I'm as baffled as you are.
