Hello: My name is Judy, and I am a new Premier member. I live in Southern California. My husband and I are both retired now and love to travel and spend time with our grown children and grandchildren. This means I have TONS of pictures. I am fascinated with digital scrapping for some reason. I've done paper scrapping for years and still like to combine the two. I have been experimenting with PSE 5 and have completed several layouts and a couple of 8 x 8 albums. However, I have a couple of general questions:

1. I like PSE 5 and feel pretty comfortable. However, my sister bought me PSE 6 for Christmas and I haven't opened it yet. What is the advantage of changing to PSE 6? Will the tutorials start being offered in PSE 6 instead of PSE 5? Should I change?

2. I can download everything fine, but I'm frustrated because I can't see what's there. When I use the thumbnails options some of the files show up as actual pictures (yeah!), some are folders with a picture on them (still o.k.), but the majority are just the blank folders and I have to go two levels down to get them to open. It's hard to know what you've got if you can't see them. Any help about this and organizing paper, embs., templates, etc. would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks. Judy

When I download new things and they are in subfolders that you have to drill down to, I highlight all of the items and drag them to the main folder, then you can go back and delete the subfolders. Then you won’t have any problem seeing things.

Welcome to Scrapper's Guide. You will find a lot of information here.

I also move items to the most top folder and delete empty ones. You can also customize the folder to show an image if it doesn't already.

In Windows Explorer in thumbnail view, right click the folder and choose properties then the customize tab then choose the most representative picture you want on the folder. Then click on apply and okay. I have only used .jpg and .tif types of images, so I know those work.

Let us know how you are doing with your organizing and if this helps.
