Hi,

I just got hold of Photoshop Elements 6 and am trying to create a digital scrapbook for my wedding... I can't figure out something quite basic, which is the setting of the pages - how do I find the settings for the page dimension and the pixel count? I'd like to create a 10 inch x 10 inch photobook with 3000 x 3000 pixels per page, and "PAGE SETUP" doesn't give me that option.

I'd greatly appreciate step-by-step instructions since I'm still new to the programme. Thanks alot!

I wouldn't use the "Photobook" creation... It is just as easy to create a new document 10 x 10 inches at 300 ppi. But, if you want to check the size of a photobook page, go to Image->Resize->Image Size and you can check the settings on that screen.

Before you get too many pages completed. Check with where you will have your book printed to be sure it works with their dimensions.

You can create your pages at 12x12 - 300dpi and then batch resize when your book is completed and ready for upload. By doing it in "full-size" you leave yourself more printing options.

There is one important design rule to keep in mind regardless of which printer you choose and that is to keep anything (embellishments, journaling, etc.) you don't want trimmed at least a 1/2" away from the edge of your page. Most companies trim a 1/4" or less - but it is always better to be safe than sorry.

Also if you are doing double page layouts or know ahead of time which are going to left or right facing pages - you might want to shift everything away from the center line (gutter) by an additional 1/4" to accommodate the amount of page that gets taken up by the binding.

I have a hard time leaving that much from the edge...I want to use every little space.

It does take some getting used to, I've been putting together books for a few years now so it's second nature to me. I can guesstimate where the 1/2" line is now without turning on the grid first and am usually pretty accurate. But I always double check myself with the grid before I hit save. :)
