PSE6 using EHD
After spending a couple of weeks with the organizer, getting all the elements tagged they all seemed to be working well. I started on the album-PHOTOS. I only did one CD, about 600 photos. I first placed them all on my EHD in files to organize,.....that looked good. Then went to organizer and did a couple of files, tagged and all. When I shut down everything seemed fine, but after being away from the computer a couple of days, I decided to scrap...had inspiration, etc. and everything was gone. Well not everything. All the nice files of photos were empty! whaaaaaaa! Then went to the PSE6 Organizer for SB supplies and couldn't find the catalog/album.....only the couple of files I'd done in the Photos album. What happened. I don't know how in the world I'll replace all the elements that disappeared. Could someone who uses an EHD for storage of photos and sb elements help me before I totally give up on digi-scrapping and go back to paper I can see and touch. I'm so disappointed! Whaaaa.....yes, I'm a crybaby today.

But here is another resource from Adobe. They have forums there you can submit your question and/or read about other's problems that may be the same as yours:

Let us know how you get along with this complex program!

I don't know about EHD, but I too lost all the stuff I had spent hours? days? organizing. But it was because I put them directly into the PSE Organizer instead of onto my hard drive. The PSE Organizer is simply a link to somewhere on your hard drive where you REALLY store your goodies.
Yes, I wept and gnashed my teeth, then reloaded as much as I could find again (some was on disks)...even went back to some of the places I'd found freebies, and did it all again. It was agony, but I learned my lesson.
Now whenever I make or buy or download anything, I file it according to designer on my hard drive (C:My Documents/Scrapping Supplies/Sources). Then I copy it to the PSE Organizer and tag everything while in there.
I feel for you. I know I lost some good stuff, including the first papers I ever made on my own (okay...those weren't THAT big a loss!).

Thanks for your suggestions so far.
In my EHD F drive history, I found the folders in Backup history, level 2,3,and 4 that had most of my scrapbook stuff intact. So...I made a new file on my EHD in My Documents called A_SBooking and began copy and paste of some of the files from the backup history level 2. Not wanting to work too hard before I know it works, I closed out of all that to think about it.
Question: Have I done the right thing? Will it work? It beats downloading again and missing a lot so I was glad to find these files.
I can't find any intact files of the catalog/album in PSE6 history/backup even though I did the backups overnight a couple of times and it said done. I still can't find them. I'm willing to do it all over one more time, but want to get it right. SO....please help.
Question: Should I go back to Organizer and make two albums, PHOTOS and SBook Supplies, copy in Patty's tags again, and begin tagging?
It is comforting to have a supportive bunch like this! Please help this "old-grandma" scrapper. Many thanks,

There is a link on this forum that gives information about multiple catalogs and what to watch out for! Be sure to read this thread through before doing anything about multiple catalogs!

Glad you found some of your files:)

Thanks for all of your advice.
Finally decided with help of tech support that the HD was corrupted. Staples will replace it. I'm going to try to back up the history file with all my goodies in it to cd's before going for the recovery process. I just know that it will again be a few weeks before all is up and in place ready to scrap. This digi-scrapping switch has not been easy, but I keep telling myself it will be better. Just soon, I hope.
One nice thing is finding such a great group of helpful friends here. Thanks.
