I've taken about a 3 year break from scrapping:( and now that I am about to be a mom I wanted to get started again. I wondered if there was a way to do it on-line now and then print.. and apparently there is!

Can anyone help with the very basics - like what computer programs do I need to get to start. And then best sites for free templetes, ect. Ive searched a bit and find sample layouts - but not those that I could actually use.

I have both apple and PC, but would prefer to use my apple.

Thanks!

Congratulations on becoming a mom and finding this site. Linda's training is wonderful so be sure to check out her tutorials in the store. Adobe Photoshop Elements 6 for the mac just came out so that might be a good software for you to start with. If you join Scrapper's Guide Premier you will get a new tutorial and beautiful kit each month. Be sure to sign up for the free weekly tip too.

Congratulations New Mom, kch.

There is a page called ikeagoddess.blogspot.com. Despite the name, it is a scrapbooking blog. She searches the internet and compiles a list of freebies which usually include templates.

You might want to give her a try.

Sorry I hit return too soon. I wanted to echo the previous message that stated that you couldn't find better tutorials than are given by Linda right here.

But since you mentioned templates, I wanted to give you another resource.

Congratulations on being a mom soon! what a perfect time to restart your scrapbooking!
I was a big time paper scrapper and now I am loving the digital!!
You have several option regarding printing.
You can, print pages at home and load them into a scrapbook album (even add little items, such as the baby's real bracelet or a lock of hair).

Have pages printed at Sam's Costco or several other sites that are reasonable.

Upload pages to be printed in a beautiful book from sites such as Shutterfly or Viovio. They accept all your work and you do not have to use their premade templates.

Welcome new mom to be, probably like many of us you accidently landed on this site, and what a lucky place to be.
I use a Mac, and I've just received Adobe Photoshop Elements 6.0, which is an upgrade from my previous version, 4.0. It depends on what OS you are using on your Mac as to which version of software you would start out with. An older Mac and system might need an older version, - according to the Read Me doc in my new software, PSE 6.0 works with the G4, G5 or multicore Intel macs using system 10.4.8 and up. We are all anxiously awaiting Linda's new training CD for 6.0, but her training CDs for previous versions are available now in the Scrappers Guide store. Each lesson is on a video and Linda breaks it down into easy steps that make it very easy to learn how to use this software. In addition, there is also a manual that you can print off to use as needed. Sign up for the weekly newsletter as well, Linda usually gives us a quick lesson each week on how to accomplish a neat trick with the software to complement our scrapbooking pages. You can then upload your finished layouts (complete instructions for this and other things are in the "how to" section at the top of the forum page), and share your creations with the rest of us. This is a friendly and helpful group, so we look forward to seeing many layouts featuring your new little bundle. Good luck.
