Hi
I'm just getting going with adobe photoshop. I have a couple of pages under my belt. Now i've downloaded lots of neat embellishments-- flowers and brads and stuff. But when I add them to my project I seem to be adding the grey space around the image as well. How do I get just the image to show on my project?:) :)

It sounds like you are getting a Smart Object layer. Are you using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements?

Hi Trish
I'm running Photoshop Elements 6. Any suggestions?

It has an + on the layer, doesn't it? You can simplify the layer (right click or go to layers>simplify layer.

V6 is different in that you cannot drag an embellishment from the photo bin to the worktop without getting this type of layer. You can, however, drag it from the worktop to the photo bin! The best way I have found is to use tile/cascade mode and drag from one to the other or do a copy/paste.

Hope this helps!

Lauri,

Sounds like you are dragging UP from the project bin. Drag your embellishment DOWN from the work area to your layout in the Project Bin.

Alternatively, Go to Windows->Images->Cascade/Tile, and then use the Move tool to drag your embellishment to your layout.
