Hi,
I'm having problems with a new pattern I purchased. I installed it as per the accompanying instructions. I have Windows XP and they didn't say whether their instructions were for XP or Vista so I'm hoping that doesn't make a difference. I have PSE 6. Here's the path I followed - C Drive>Program File>Adobe>Photoshop Elements 6> Presets>Patterns. I copied and pasted the file to this folder.
I then restart PSE and the pattern is not there. I have done this many times. The regular patterns are there but not the new one. When I go back to the installation folder, the new one is there just where it is supposed to be. I have even downloaded the pattern from the web site again and installed the new download but it still will not come up in PSE.
What am I doing wrong? Please help.

Hi Janine ...

... and welcome to SCrappers Guide :)

The path is OK ... but was it a .pat file and did you restart Elements once you had installed the pattern.

Hi Wendy,

It is a pattern and I re-start PSE each time I try. Like I said, it is in the file when I check but it just will not come up in PSE. I'm at a dead end. I do so appreciate your response. Thank you.

Try holding down the shift key when you start PSE. It takes a few minutes longer to start, but it forces PSE to look in the folders and reset the files. It might help.

Holding down Shift works in PSE5 but sadly it doesn't work in PSE6 ..

Try downloading another pattern from somewhere like Adobe Studio Exchange and install that ... see if that one works OK :)

Well, you can use the Preset Manger to load patterns, even if they won't display automagically. It's under Edit->Preset Manager (or Edit->Preferences->Preset Manager.)

Thank you everyone for your responses. You guys are good. I did manage to figure out how to load them with the Preset Manager. I have another question. Does it only work for one session though? When I shut down PSE and turn it back on again, then the new patterns are not there. They do re-load easily so I guess that is good.

I sure appreciate your help.
