Hello -

I have what is probably a basic and silly question, but here goes it. I am trying to remove photos from my internal hard drive (c:) because it is virtually full. At the same time, I am trying to move them within organizer so I do not have to reconnect constantly. I find if I move folders from C: drive to L: drive (an external drive) it usually goes well, albeit slow. Sometimes I have to reconnect and sometimes not - this is confusing. When I move the folders from c: to L: am I removing the pics from the c: drive to free up space?
Other question. I moved some folders by going to Copy/Move Offline thinking I was moving the folders from C: drive to L: drive and leaving a pic icon in organizer, but the folders keep disappearing and I don't know where they went?

So, how do I remove pics from my c: drive to free up space and leave an icon which will still show me all my pics and where to find them (presumably in the L: drive)?

Thanks kindly,

Stacy

P.S. I am trying to get my organizer and pics organized before I purchase and load PSE6.

Doing the Move inside the Organizer should literally move them from your C: drive to your L: drive, so they are no longer on your C: drive.

Some thoughts... After you do a move, do a File->Catalog->Recover (to clean up and compress the database file). Move only a directory at a time. You may need to duplicate your folder structure on your L: drive BEFORE copying. So, if you have My Photos\2008\Jan; My Photos\2008\Feb; My Photos\2008\Mar on your C: drive, then you'll want to create a 2008\Jan, 2008\Feb, and 2008\Mar on your L: drive (using Windows Explorer) BEFORE you use the "Move" command to move your pictures.

I don't know anything about the Offline stuff. You may want to post over at the Adobe forums (be sure to include your Operating System and version of Elements) with your problems with that.

Hi Trish -

I tried posting on the adobe website, but I can't figure out my password and I've waited several hours for their response, so I posted at the photoshopelementstechnique site. Also, in the midst of all this I discovered that I lost the entire project and am still trying to find it.

And I wonder why I never get anything done!!!

Thanks,

Stacy
