Hi

I am pretty new at digital scrapbooking. I have a pretty good knowledge of CS2 but I guess not a good enough one. I can figure out how to make the picture an oval, using the eclipse tool but when I try to move that onto my layout the picture is not showing on the screen, it does show as a layer but I don't see the picture, PLEASE HELP

Thanks so much
Laura

Hi Laura,
Make sure the layer you want to see isn't underneath another. You might want it on top, or if you're using a frame, just under that layer. You can drag it to the top in the layers palette.

Are you remembering to click on the move tool (after you make the ellipse) before you drag it to your layout?

I have tried both of those suggestions, I guess it is back to the books for me because it doesn't seem to work.
Does anyone know if the CD's Linda has online address this issue for CS2?

Thanks
Laura

Hi Laura ...

Try it this way ...

Open up the image you want to add use the Elliptical Marquee to make your oval shape and then do Edit>Copy (if the image has more than one layer then do Edit>Copy Merged)
Now open up your layout and just do Edit>Paste

You should then have your oval in your layout ..

Do let us know if that works OK for you :)

Another approach is to use the elliptical marquee tool on your photo and drag out the oval (feathered if you wish).

Now ctrl+J this selection to the new layer.

Now click that layer in the layer's palette, and click and hold on the layer in the layers palette, and drag the entire LAYER (the oval) out of there, and over onto your new layout (the second open document) then drop it.

Try that one too! Hope this helps. All the other suggestions are ways to do what you're trying to do too.

Hope this one works for ya!

Laura,

Be sure that when you are making your oval selection, you are actually on the layer that the picture is on. Many times I have tried to do what you are doing, only to get a new layer with nothing on it. It usually turns that I was on an adjustment layer above my picture and ended pasting that instead.

YEAH !!!! it finally works and man is it easy. There are times when I just have to step away and quit for awhile and when I come back it works like clockwork.

Thanks so much for all the advise!!!!
