Chiseled Font

Hi,

I need to know how to make a font have a chiseled look. I have a dog tag that I want to write on but I want the effect of the chiseled look. Does anyone know how to do this.

Try this: select the font layer, then apply bevels...(try "up" and "down"...experiment until you get what you like).

There's a free action on the Adobe Exchange for creating chiseled type. Are you using Photoshop Elements 7.0 or Photoshop?

Just google "adobe exchange" and it will come right up. It's a place were there are all kinds of things- brushes, actions, filters ...lets just say, all of the presets +. It's just nice people that develop things and upload them for others to use. You may find some of these same items....say brushes, on the designers site also...but they upload them here also.

If you don't know about adobe exchange, possibly you do not know about the Adobe "user forums". They can be very helpful when you have issues with the programs..or you like to keep up on things. You'll find a link to those on the Adobe site also.

Another email that you might want to sign up for is Photoshop Roadmap. Daily, I get an email with all kinds of wonderful tuts. There was one a while back on "text effects tutorials for Photoshop". They had some really neat effects. Played with a bunch of them.

If you're looking for more ideas on the chiseled text...just google photoshop chiseled type (or text)....and you'll find all kinds of neat tutorials. Google.....is my friend, that's for sure!

Is this exchange for PS only or can you use the things in PSE Version 7?

Hi ...

Most things that are made for Photoshop .. like styles, textures, gradients, patterns, brushes etc will work in Elements.

... but somethings like Actions, unless specially adapted for Elements are Photoshop only :)
