How to print on card

I have note cards that I would like to print a layout on but I am lost (again). The cards are 4.25 x 5.50". There are four cards to a page. I want to print all of them the same. Any help on this, please?

Marnie, the first problem I see is that if you are printing on 8.5 x 11 paper, you are going to lose printing space on the edges, and probably not evenly on every side. The first thing I would do is run a test sheet thru my printer to see exactly how close to the edges it will print (just fill an 8.5x11 document with any color).

Once you do that, you can see just where to place the first copy of your layout. Create a new document, being sure your rulers are turned on so you can see where to place each copy. If the LO is a PSD, You will want to select all the layers and merge them (make sure you are working on a duplicate of the file if you want to maintain your layers for future use). If it is a JPG file, or after you've merged your PSD file, click CTRL J 3 times to get three copies (you won't see them, because they will all be stacked on top of the first one. You can then drag each copy into place on your document.

You might also try scanning your note card sheet in JPG format. Use it has a template so you can judge how to place your LOs on the 4 note card sections. Be sure to duplicate your template so you do not destroy your original. Then you will have it to use over and over again.

Oh, I had never thought of that. What a great idea! Yesterday I printed and printed, made adjustments after adjustments and finally got one right after using probably half of my ink. A template! Thank you, thank you, thank you. I'm getting off here and making one right now.

Try Avery.com - they have free downloadable templates. None for any notecards for PS unfortunately, but they do have them for Word. They have a few PS templates for other items. More than once I have wished that something from a Word template could be pasted into a graphics program. Maybe we can ask for more PS/PSE templates!
