Installing Custom Shapes

For fear of appearing dumb how do you insert Costom Shapes so you can use them in Photo Shop Elements Editor ? :mad:

Jan I don't think all of the shapes I have in Custom Shapes = within presets are in the area where I get shapes in Photoshop Elements when I push on the trangle they are not there.

PhotoShop Element 6 :( I have been putting some other styles in as Linda told us to==It is not easy but I was able to do it.

I am using XP operating system.

Okay, I'll have to check (I don't have PSE 6 on this computer) the paths for the shapes. I think there are two places you can put them - one in the presets directory, and one under Documents and Settings - similar to how you do styles. You may need to delete the Mediadatabase file like you do for styles to get them to show up - or, in PSE 6, can you just press and hold the shift key at startup? I forget.

Under Documents & Settings look for 6.0\Locale\en_US\Photo Creations\Shapes and you can put your .csh file there. The other place is C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements 6.0\Presets\Custom Shapes - put the .csh file there.

If they don't show up, try deleting the MediaDatabas.

I guess the only shape I don't have is Julies Assortment I don't know where I got it probably from here. It was only going one direction (as you told me to) the other direction it was not listed. The first one it was kinda grayed out.

I really appreciate your help Tish until now I haven't been brave enough to learn this.

Do you have Show Hidden Files and Folders enabled?

If it looks "grayed out" - can you still double click the folder and move into it?

I haven't tried double clicking the file ( Julies Assortment) yet I just pasted it in when I went the other direction.
Something wonderful happened last night I went on the web to find a CSH file so I could try to install one and accidently found the discussion web page of Linda's about "Installing my Bonus files" started 12/07/07. Discussing installing styles,brushes,shapes and patterns.
I haven't read it yet but hope it helps me. ;)

:eek:I am still working on the shapes but not having any success. I went on the web and got something called Add omatic 7 hopeing it would help me but I still am not able to get shapes CSH files so that I can use them

I have Photoshop Element 6 working on a xp computer and have deleted the Mediadatabase.db3 file several times. I am not having trouble with brushes and most of the time layer styles but shapes I am having no success with. The discussion page of Scrappers Guide I got off the web did not help me.

This is some time later I have been working on Layer Styles I have lots of new styles but even though I do the above I still can't put names on them to use to come up on the bar to read so I won't have to go through all of them to find what I want.
