Hi Millie,
I never use the photo downloader, so I'm afraid I can offer any assistance on that. But you can download your images directly to your computer and access them from there.

You might try resetting preferences. Open the organizer, and under Edit->Preferences I think there is a "Reset Preferences" somewhere (or maybe a delete preferences).
Which version of PSE and which Operating System do you have?

I, too, never use the downloader. I think it's faster to use Windows Explorer and just copy the files from the camera card to the file folder where I want them. After I've safely burned them to a DVD, then I'll erase them from the card - again using Windows Explorer.

Ok, silly question now...how do you do that in Windows Explorer...I put my card into the side of my HP photoprinter...BTW..I am using PSE6. I did finally get them downloaded and am now crying...all of my Christmas pics are fuzzy...

Oh, you have a printer with a card slot? Usually, when you put a card into a card slot, a dialog pops up, giving you many choices. Choose the one that says "Windows Explorer" or something like that. I then open another Windows Explorer, and navigate to the folder in which I want the photos. Then, go back to the other window, use ctrl-a to select all the pictures, and then drag them over to the other folder, and viola, photos are copied.
Sorry all your photos are fuzzy. :( I've had that happen on my dd's 5th birthday (only about half the pictures turned out okay) - which is why I went to a dlsr.

Nope, I don't get any popups when I insert the card....and now I have to ask...what on earth is a dlsr

Hmmm. How is your printer hooked up to your computer? Is it via USB? You may have disabled the action to automatically pop up the dialog that asks.
DLSR = Digital Single Lens Reflex - like a Nikon D40, D50, D60, D70, D80, D90, etc, or Cannon XT series, and Sony, Pentax, and Olympus make them too. They generally do not have any shutter lag like the Point and Shoot cameras do.
But, as I found out, I also needed to work on my camera holding techniques - holding elbows in, holding my breath while taking the picture, supporting the camera, paying attention to lighting, etc.
