I need help! I've been using PSE3 for several years. Santa brought version 7.It seemed to install without problem, but many of my elements in the organizer didn't come through. I tried bringing them in directly from the original folders, now it is giving me a message that PSE7 has quit working! :eek:Think I'm in trouble. Thanks for any help.

I would be inclined to uninstall PSE7 and then do a fresh install :)

Lois,

First, did you disable anti-virus software when you installed?

Second, did you use the PSE 7.0 "Convert" feature to convert your PSE 3.0 catalog to a PSE 7.0 catalog?

Follow up question on this thread. I've had PSE 3, 5, and now 7. So I've converted the prior catalogs, but i want to use just one by merging them together. How do I do this since the catalogs seem to have different stuff now?

You cannot "merge" catalogs, unfortunately.

If you have converted 3 to 5 and then 5 to 7, you should have the one catalog. It keeps the older ones around just in case something goes wrong in the conversion, but as long as you are using just the PSE 7 catalog, then you have you all your stuff in the 7 catalog, and you can just delete the earlier catalogs. Just make sure you ONLY use the PSE 7.0 Organizer.

Oh, thanks, but I did the convert and the old stuff didn't come thru. Should I delete the PSE 7 version (since I haven't added much) and then convert 5 again?

I would say, yes. Go back to 5, and do a File->Catalog->Recover and a Reconnect Missing Files. Then go into 7, and do the conversion.

When you say "Everything didn't come thru" - some things don't convert from earlier versions, especially "projects" like slide shows. I can't remember where, but somewhere over at Adobe's site there is a list of what will and won't convert from each previous version to 7.0.
