I asked about not being able to use more than one shape in PSE 6. You said check the top and make sure I had new shape" selected. I don't see where you are talking about.

Up in the options bar - (you are using the custom shape tool, and not the cookie cutter, right? The custom shape tool is under the Rectagle/Ellipse/Polygone/Line tool in PSE 7. I think it is similar in PSE 6.)

Anyway, you see the drop down list for the chosen shape in the option bar. Next to it are 5 squares or combinations of squares symbolizing the different modes. If you don't see those you have the Cookie Cutter, not the shape tool.
