Plug ins ????

What are plug ins? How do you use them? I have Photoshop Elements 6.

Plug ins... well, they are like the filters already in Elements. I use the OpticVerv plug-in, and the SmartCurves plug-in. They usually only work on the top layer of your photo. They are really a separate program, that takes the layer(s), manipulates them, and then passes the layer back to PSE. They are going to be specific to your operating system, as they are really programs. So, a plug-in may work on Windows and not on Mac or vice versa.
