PSE7 text disappears

I received PSE 7 (I had PSE4 before). Anyway, when I click the text tool and start typing (the font is like 400, it's for an ABC book) and its fine. Then when I click off the text tool my text disappears. What do I do? Oh, it only happens with LARGE text. THanks

What are the dimensions (in inches) and your PPI for this document? (Check under Image->Size->Resize).

The document is 12x12 and 500pt is the text. What do you mean by PPI? It's 300 resolution.

Yes, that's what I meant. I'm not sure why it disappears. First try resetting the text tool. At the far left end of the options bar is a little, tiny down-facing arrow. Click on it and choose "Reset Tool."

If that doesn't work, try resetting peferences: exit the editor. Press and hold ctrl-alt-shift as you start the editor. You will get a dialog asking if you want to delete the settings file. You do.

My other thought is that PSE is trying to render the text, and you don't have enough memory for it to do so. How much RAM and what operating system are you running?

RAM=4GB operating system=Vista 64bit.

Did you have antivirus software disabled during install? It is really important, as Adobe products and antivirus software (especially Norton) don't play nice.

No, I believe McAfee virus protection was installed.

Then, I would disable your antivirus, uninstall PSE, reboot, disable your antivirus and reinstall PSE 7. None of your catalog information will be lost.

I am fairly new at PSE and had this happen to me a couple of times. I then realized that I had a layer on top of my text. lol. I moved my text layer to the top and the problem was solved. Is it possible that this is your problem? Just wondering.
