I've been following the steps outlined by Sara to create sticker titles, but it's just not working! I create a new layer beneath my text, select the text, get marching ants, select the mat layer (with the text layer still selected), expand the selection by 12 pixels, then with the mat layer still selected and the text selection active, try to fill the selection (mat layer) with a color. Nothing happens! Can someone please help me figure out what I'm doing wrong? Any help would be appreciated! Thanks.

Jill,
It sounds to me like you are doing it right! Select the blank layer beneath your text and Control+Click on the thumbnail of the text to get the marching ants. Go to select > modify > expand and expand the selection by 12 pixels. Then get your paint bucket and fill the selection with a color. It should work that way!

I just tried this a couple of times, in various ways and I had no trouble getting Sara's tutorial to work. Is it possible you are trying to fill the layer with the same color as your type or background paper?

I tried it again (according to Sara's directions) but it still didn't work (and no, I wasn't trying to fill with the same color as my background layer). Then, I did what Kelly suggested and used the paint bucket. Presto! I got the fill! Don't ask me why it doesn't work when I use Edit>Fill Selection, because I can't figure it out. Just glad that the paint bucket trick worked. Thanks Kelly!
