I am trying to find or preferrably make an acrylic heart. Does anyone have the knowledge to instruct me in this process? Thanks. KJRE

Do you mean something like this:

If so, let me know, and I will write out the steps I took to make it. However, I'm pretty sure some of the Design Divas on this forum will come up with something better, so I'm not going to bother unless this is what you really want!

What program do you use? Please let us know so we know which of the various filters can be applied.

There are alot of free actions and styles that can be used also. The shape tool has hearts and you can transform them to distort them. There are of course tons of free heart shaped brushes that one can start with also.

I use PSE 7 on a XP.....I was actually thinking of a clear acrylic heart (sorry I didn't specify) and one that I can put a picture behind and the heart would show on top, but fairly faint. I did try the shapes and used the translucent glass button which had the look I wanted, but I couldn't get a picture behind it, etc. Thanks for all the input. KJRE

I can't remember anything about Elements, but I thought I recalled reading that you can not make your own styles....if that is correct, or even if it isn't....if you want to google, "photoshop clear acrylic style". Your search will bring you to a blogspot named digitalscrappingngenealogy. That site has a couple of downloads...the one for clear buttons has bunch of layer styles that you can use (June 2008). Each is a slightly different look. Just download the zip file and load your style into elements. There are some great looks! I use CS3, so I can see the details of each effect and change them if I want...but these are so good, I haven't changed anything.

For the most part, it's just a matter of playing with bevel and emboss and changing the fill (not the opacity) to 0 or 1%. If you google for tutorials, I came up with a few and even a video that was pretty good.

Have fun.

You guys are amazing! The web site you sent me to was perfect and just what I was looking for. I have downloaded, tried and it is fantastic. I can't believe all the knowledge some of you people have in your brains. Thanks again. KJRE

ROTF....I just got hit broadside with the name on this thread....sounds like a contemporary country western song title! Glad you got a solution, KJRE!

Great. Glad we could help and that everything worked okay. I have a ton of styles downloaded, but that one had so many different versions that figured there might be something there you would like. Once you start collecting styles, fonts, brushes, etc.........every once in a while you're bound to use one of them!! :-)

Shar...you're too funny.....we will be looking for the words for the song from you now that you have the title! :-)

Have fun everyone!!!

Actually, DmRdm, I'm thinking about starting a band, and Acrylic Heart will be our name. Anyone want to join? I dibs the guitar (no, can't play it at all). I think we should have cyber rehearsals starting right after everyone gets "caught up" with all their scrapping. :D

;) ;) ;)

Ah...a band...sounds like a good name for a band...and I'm sure the logo for it would be cool......now that reminds me of a country song....Start A Band by Brad Paisley. I'll pick drums then....although, I don't think I'll ever get caught up.....heck, what am I saying, I've barely even started. I have too many things I like to do this time of year...garden, walk, ride bikes, take pictures...thinking about vacation........plus my sister always has me making something for her. Tuesday she called me and wanted me to do a real quick LO for the May Baskets her 7 year old daughter was going to be giving out tomorrow. At least I don't have anything else for her until fall birthdays. Always something! Some day I will get to the receipe book I need to get done for Christmas!!! Have started that a few times, but just not happy with what I've come up yet....I'm rambling.....

HAVE FUN!
