Hi all. Been a member for a while, bought some training and am a Premier subscriber (2nd year!), but am only JUST starting out with PSE 6. OMG!! I cannot believe I didn't try this sooner!!!!! I was so stuck using PSP (through PSPX) because I was "comfortable" with it. I was sure PSE was going to be more complicated... Oh Boy, how I was WRONG.

ANYWAY, I've had lots of time to play in PSE 6, on my new Win 7 laptop. I'm getting the hang of lots of stuff and I LOVE IT!!! So easy!! Drag and drop is the BEST and soooo time saving... Now I am now trying to go further. I've learned about actions and layer styles, and have found a bunch to install, but I'm having a hard time figuring out how to install either/both in Win 7. Can anyone help? I did a quick search in the forum (and Google) but didn't find info relevant.

I'm seeing info about the Add-O-Matic software and assuming that it is the route I should go... I'll go to the website adn see if it works with Win 7.

NEXT question:
Does anyone have any experience with Add-O-Matic & Win 7? :)

Jaimie,

You can ask the author - he's really responsive. You don't *have* to have the Add-o-Matic, but it does make it easier. I don't know if he makes .XML files so they'll show up in the menu as separate items.

If you need to know the path for layer styles for Win 7:
C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\8.0\Photo Creations\layer styles

I know that's the path for PSE 8 - but it should be similar for 6.

Minutes after posting my initial question I went over to that website and decided that I had seen enough to convince me that I needed to have the tiny program for the nominal fee of $10.99. Within 5 minutes I installed the 10-15 things I had downloaded from a few trusted sites, including a few offered on their site.

My next questions is can you uninstall stuff when you don't want it there all the time? Having more stuff slows down the program a bit. :)

the website clearly states that the program does work with Windows 7, and I can confirm that it works well. ;)

It's not that easy to "install/uninstall" - but you could. But, if you have to rebuild the thumbnails/media database, that can take awhile. I think it is putting to many brushes in the presets folder that can really slow things down. Once the mediadatabase/thumbnails files are built, it loads pretty fast. I've only added 6 or 7 layer styles myself, so I think it is fine.
