I hope this is the right place to ask this but I am really confused about the png files that came in the April premier membership monthly kit.
I watched the videos that came with the kit but i am trying to color in the "cupcake" that is just black and white. I want the bottom of the cupcake to be a piece of digital paper ( the part the cupcake sits in) and then i want to build from there in different colors, like the frosting to be a different color and the cherries to be red. I am jiust not sure how to select these different areas, everytime i use the magic wand tool is selects the entire document, I have played around with the magnetic lasso tool and i just cant get it to work out for me. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I just love this kit and I really like the premade stuff its just i would like to know how to do it myself.
Thanks for any help!
Kari

Hi Kari,
If a doodle outline has any gaps in it, the magic wand will automatically select all the white area outside the doodle as well. So you need to close up those gaps. Use a hard, round brush and black as your foreground color. Zoom right in so you can look at the edges and, on a new layer, paint over any white gaps in the doodle outline. If you are happy with your painting, merge the two layers together. The success of the magic wand technique depends on the area selected being completely closed. There is a video called, Pen and Wash (http://www.scrappersguide.com/tutorials/pen-and-wash/) in the store which goes into this technique in great detail. If you were a Premier Member in September 2009 you would have received this video as one of your downloads. It's available for purchase in the store now if you don't already have it.
Cheers,
