I just downloaded a free copy of PSCS3 Beta. So far so good. Everything is working fine in CS3 and also I can still use CS2 on same computer. Adobe warned of potential problems since it was beta but so far I am enjoying some of the new things. I is easier to cut figures out of a photo and also the refine edged is great. Also there is no support and no help menu. You can find discussion though.
I was wondering if anyone else has been brave enough to try it. Or should I say crazy enough.

Adobe did suggest that you put it on a separate comuter in case it messed up.

I have not installed it--the computer that I wanted to run it on doesn't have any version of CS on it, so I couldn't capture the registration code to go any farther with that testing. I don't really like to run beta versions, but am thinking about trying this one out if I can work it out.

Believe me, CS3 was thoroughly tested in the labs before they tossed its beta to the general public. I don't know quite why they did it this way this time--and am curious to find out if it has anything to do with watching how it performs on the upcoming Vista platform, And, doesn't that remain to be seen!!

Maybe other members have some insight into this.

Yes Priss, you are right. I watched a video from Abobe Labs and they said that they wanted to hear what happened with Apple Intell and Windows Vista. Problems with these were all they wanted to hear about.

Hi ...

I know that a lot of Mac Pro CS2 users are waiting for CS3 to be released before upgrading their computers to the Intel MacPros ... so I wonder of Adobe were short of beta testers using Intels ??

Hi Franny,

I downloaded the CS3 beta the very first day it was available. I am in love with it. I am using it so much, I know I am going to have to spring for the new version when it comes out in the Spring.

So far I love the quick selection tool (so much better than either the magic wand or the select color option) and really love the refine edges option especially since you can preview it as a mask, on a black background, on a white background, as a quick mask, or just as a simple selection. Since you can look at it on both a black and a white background while using it, you can really tell if you have any fringe. I also like that you can use it in conjunction with other selection tools. I only wish it was magic on hair!

I have also had great results using the align image option. I was able to mask out my sister's face (her eyes were closed) and have her face aligned perfectly from the layer below.

But perhaps my favorite thing is the "convert for smart filters" option. It used to be that if I wanted to use the shadow/highlight option it was a one shot deal. Now you can convert your image for smart filters and you can change the settings at will even after you have saved the image and closed it (you must save a layered file, though).

Oh, and the vanishing point filter is sooooo much better. I love the collapsible palettes.

And then there is Bridge - ooh la la.

Sorry, I am going so, but I am a huge fan of this new toy.

I have been playing with it so much, I have not been at the forum much at all. That has to change. I have been missing so much.

Love the new challenge - old beginner digital page - to a rework with all the new things we have learned.

I would advise anyone who owns a registered version of CS2 to download CS3 beta. There are some very nice and helpful tuts at the download site.

I got all of the info the first day and read about it, but with the holidays haven't found the time to look at it yet. Seems pretty exciting. Interested in the new RAW features a lot. Always fun to look at new stuff.

I have cs2 now and i can't wait for the new version to come out. Not into Beta's, but may try this anyway.

Well, guess I better start saying my pennies for the upgrade. Looks like the last one was around $170.00, so when it comes out hopefully it won't be more than that. Can't wait.
