Help going from 3.0 to 5.0 Catalog/tags

Have installed PSE 5.0, having used 3.0 for years. How do I transfer over the tags from 3.0? In Adobe help, all I've found is transfering a catalog from 4.0 to 5.0. 3.0 doesn't have a catalog.

I have over 5000 pictures tagged in 3.0 so I'd really rather not have to retag everything.

Any assitance is greatly appreciated!

When you open the PSE 5.0 organizer, it should convert the catalog for you.

Here is what you should do.

1. In PSE 3.0, do a Reconnect all missing files.
2. In PSE 3.0, do a File->Catalog->Recover.
3. Open PSE 5.0. If it doesn't automatically find your catalog from PSE 3.0, open it. This should do the conversion for you.

You can go to file>write tags to file, this will write tags to your jpeg images but not to png files just in case you use png files for scrapbook supplies.
So if you loose your catalog for any reason the tags will be attached to your photos or if you would email one of those photos to someone the tag would be on it and they could choose to import the tag to their organizer or not import it.
