What brush would you use to make a paint stroke like on this layout?

Maybe "Thick Heavy Brushes" # 100 or # 104 or #111.
OR it could have been a "frame" that was in the kit she used. Why don't you write Mandy and ask her? Nice effect, huh.
Linda sometimes uses the grunge/chalk brushes for frames like this. See her July, 2006 Premier.

Did you test with more recent versions, Marge? I think most .abr files written for PS7 work, but want to know if you've used them yourself?
They're really, really nice--thanks for the tip.

I downloaded and tested them, thank you, Margeeo.

THere is a brush in the set that will do what I want to do, however I really would like to figure out how to make one myself. I'm going to try Priss' suggestion of the Thick Heavy Brushes next. This is way too much fun!

Thanks, Priss! Those will be just the ticket with hardly any fiddling at all!

Sorry Priss and Irene it took so long to respond. Been kinda busy lately. Priss I can only test in PS7 and PSE4 and they work in these two programs. Irene hope they help you some.

What fun brushes, --all of them. AND don't worry--Linda will be teaching us how to do them (her way) in the future. It's not really tricky, but developing just the brush you want can take a LONG TIME.

So glad those suggestions were JUST what you were looking for, Irene

Make your own! I don't think you can make brushes in Elements, but you can in Photoshop. I sat down and painted with the kids one day and created a bunch of brush strokes then scanned them in. They are large and I use them more like a stamp than a brush.

Hi Melissa ..

... and welcome :)

Elements can indeed make brushes in just the same way that you describe ..
