Thanks to IN THE GYM for her 1st Cast of the Season (http://www.scrappersguide.com/forums...75&cat=fav) for her layout which inspired me to make this composition for my Dad, who passed away on Jan. 29 of 2008. It turned out to be in the tradition of a Mexican ofrenda! Dad was a newspaper man, father, rose gardener, fisherman, (Hence the wilted rose and the fish hook), crossword puzzle enthusiast, and he adored mom. I added the slide to symbolize his love of photography and world travel, the St. Pauli Girl label and Hershey bar for his love of beer and candy, and the key is for his newspaper office. The magnifying glass, courtesy of the June 2008 Scrapper's Guide lesson on Glass highlights the title.
I set the watch to 11:00, to symbolize the eleventh hour. The handwritten part is from the eulogy I presented at his funeral, and the newspaper clipping is from the Green Bay (Wis.) Press Gazette on Jan. 30, 2008.
I used Dana Zarling's Southern Day Kit: Autumn Flowers lined paper, and wood background. Other elements are from the June 2008 kit, Celebrations kit by Digital Design Den and glass technique from the Scrapper's Guide June 2008 Premier issue, Clearly Glass. The string is adapted from June 2007's JBaechtold_Father_Fiber1.png
The photos are mine and Dad's including the wooden type, which was my dad's.
Fonts are Kaufmann BT, Manuscript, and Jim Teacher.
