I might try making the banner smaller and the title bigger, maybe in a fancier font to match scroll work around photo. What about changing the color of the font too? Maybe pick up the pink/red from the scroll work?

BTW, I LOVE the scroll work!!!!

I think the reason you're looking at the banner is that it's a casual, whimsical element, which competes with the elaborate, more formal scroll work.

Essentially it's a decision you'd need to make about whether you want the page to be fun and casual, or if you want a more elaborate look.

If you decide to eliminate the scroll work and keep the flags, add a small drop shadow to the flags and to your photo. Then bump up your photo to just underneath the flags and add a bit of journaling below the photo. We don't know the story here, and such a cute photo deserves to be supported with a couple of lines that tell the story.

If you decide to eliminate the flags, then consider making the scroll work a bit simpler. It really overwhelms the photo with such detail on all four sides. Here's what you might try. Keep the top panel of scroll work. Eliminate the bottom panel and one of the side panels. Then take the remaining side panel and invert it at the bottom of the photo. Center it with some margin on both sides. In other words, don't run the bottom scroll all the way from edge to edge below the photo.

I'd suggest keeping the title simple rather than making it ornate. A little scroll work goes a long way...

thank you very much for the thoughtful comments. I shall try both suggestions, though I'm thinking that I really just started with the scroll to learn to do it, maybe I will find a more appropriate place to use it later.
