Yesterday I installed my new Western Digital external hard drive. I moved all of my photos and PSD files from Photoshop over to it. Now, when I try to open the Organizer in Photoshop Elements, it "times out" and will not open at all. The Editor section of Photoshop will open, but not the Organizer where you import photos, tag them, browse for photos, etc. Whenever I save a file after edits in the Editor, it gives me an error message saying "There was a problem accessing the Organizer catalog. It may be in use by another process, or a disk error occurred."
i've already removed and reinstalled the Photoshop software. I am wondering if this has anything to do with the FAT32 thing that the external hard drive uses? I don't even know what that is but I've heard it could mess things up. Is it because I moved so many files that Organizer was accessing?
Anyone HELP!!!! Please!!!!!!!!

J. Smith,
Yes, Fat 32 can mess things up (you'll want to use NTFS). But, my big guess is you moved all your photos using Windows Explorer. Now, the organizer is opening and looking for all your pictures and can't find them, that's probably why it times out. You need to try moving your photos back to their original location(s) and then try opening the organizer. If that doesn't work, try holding down the SHIFT key when you start the organizer and see if you can open a new, empty catalog.
BTW, what version of PSE are you using?

I have a similar problem - I moved my whole Scrapper's Guide FOLDER (with all its subfolders for the files in my SG kits) to a different place on my hard drive. All the tags are still intact when I open the Organizer, but if I try to do anything with a picture, it can't be "found". I don't have to "browse" to the new location for each one of my, say, 3000+ pictures, do I?

Under File, hit reconnect and go off and read a good book. Organizer tries hard to reconnect the files. Whether that will work for you or not is ? - but it's worth a try.
