Hi everyone,
You all are so amazing and knowledgeable, I'm hoping that someone can answer this probably not-too-bright question:
When backing up the Catalog to my external hard drive, am I backing up JUST the catalog and its thumbnails or the original files?
This came to me last night as I was drifting off to sleep!

Question about back up...

Yes, it is backing up the photos. But, I wouldn't trust the built-in backup as far as I could throw it. People on the Adobe forums have reported failed backups, even though PSE has reported success.

Hi Trish,
Then do you have the software for the EHD do the back up? These are the things that go "ping" in my brain at night!
Thanks,

I use SyncBackSE (it is about $30, and a generous 3 computer (or maybe 5) licence) to do my backups. I don't use PSE's organizer any longer, but all you would need to do is make sure the catalog file, thumbnail file and photos are in your backup program's list. Also, you'll want to back up any actions and layer styles you've added. Generally speaking, you can tell backup software which folders to backup.
