I recently purchased a new laptop with Vista OS. I'm trying to transfer my Scrapper's Guide files (movies, Premier packages, etc) to the laptop to take up to the cabin for the summer. I started with 3 Premier movies, loaded them to a traveldrive then copied them to a file on the laptop. When I opened the first movie on the laptop I got a message saying it could not play it because the file type was not supported or the compression file type was not supported. The files I transferred were the compressed files and the unzipped files. My regular computer with Windows XP has no problem opening/playing anything from Scrapper's Guide. Any suggestions?

You have to unzip any compressed files.
Have you downloaded quicktime or windows media player onto your Laptop?

You know, I can't remember if the files will play in Windows Media Player. Quicktime has worked fine for me on both my Vista computers...
What are you playing them in on your XP machine?

I'm playing them in Quicktime.
I just tried to play the CD from Linda that came with Elements 7 and I got the same message. I think you're right, nothing from Scrapper's Guide will play with Windows Media Player. I need to download Quicktime but can't find a free version for some reason.

Try this link. Click on the "Quicktime" link on the left, and then the next page it goes to, look under "Download Free Player."
