Problem with instruction re layer styles

I've run across this in another tip but just figured out what I need to do about it. To give the rickrack a bevel and shadow so it appears more three dimensional, the tip states

In the Menu Bar, choose Layer > Layer Style > Style Settings

but when I choose Layer/Layer Style, the option for Style Settings is not available to click. Now I know I must first choose Layer Styles in the Layer effects pallet and pick Bevel and double click one style which puts the little style icon on my layer. Then I can double click the icon which brings up the menu box for Style Settings and go about changing the settings for Bevel and Drop Shadow per Jen's instructions. I have PSE 7--is that why it's different? Does anybody else have a problem with this? Love learning how to make rickrack. Thanks

Hi Beverly! Glad you are making some rickrack!
I created my tip with PSE 8.0, so there will be minor differences with what you see on your screen and what buttons you need to push.
Your way of getting to the Bevel and Drop Shadow is super-fine.
