Ditch the Welcome Screen!
Okay, I'll start...
This isn't a keyboard shortcut, but in my book... it ranks right up there for my all-time faves.
This post from Trish will show you how to bypass that pesky Welcome Screen in Elements and go straight to the Editor when you open the program:

Glad to be of assistance
.
Some faves:
ctrl-alt-shift-e - if you have your top layer selected, then press those, it makes a flattened layer of your image above that, retaining all your layers below. I use it when I'm working on a photo, and then need to pull that onto a layout.
ctrl-shift-j - if you are working in a text box, and you want your text left and right aligned, this shortcut will do it in PSE 8 and under.
[ or ] - to reduce or enlarge the size of your brush

In Photoshop:
Ctrl + Alt + N for a new document
V to get handles on the corners of my objects so I can transform them
Shift to keep the proportions correct when I transform selections
Ctrl + Shift + S to "Save As"
I'm sure there are more. The longer I use PSE and CS, the more I use shortcuts. I also love the ones mentioned above.---Shar

I know, sometimes the simple ones are the most useful...
Ctrl+D (Mac:Cmd+D) to deselect and get rid of the "marching ants" instead of going to the menu bar and choosing Select > Deselect.Jan Walker
