I just upgraded to PSE 9 and never use the organizer can anyone tell me how to disable it. I had it diabled in PSE5. I looked under edit/preferences in the organizer but couldn't find what I was looking for. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

Pam,
Just make sure you "Uncheck" the "Include in Organizer" checkbox when you save a file. As long as you never open the Organizer, it's disabled. If it is popping up the downloader when you put a memory card in the computer or connect your camera, then you can disable that part.

Pam, I know what you mean... I disabled the Organizer in PSE 5 as well, because I never use the thing and didn't want it using up resources on my computer.
Haven't figured out a way to do that in PSE 9 yet... not sure it can be done, actually, but if I find a way, I'll let you know!Jan Walker

You could find the executable file (in here: C:\Program Files\Adobe\Elements 9 Organizer) and look for PhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe and rename it to "DisablePhotoshopElementsOrganizer.exe" to make sure that it can't be launched accidentally. But, (there's always one, isn't there?) I don't know how that might affect the Editor or other parts of Elements that may ping it. There are a few other ".exe" files in there - like the PhotoDownloader and FileAgent that I don't know what they do. Again, changing their names slightly (by adding Disabled to the front, or something like that) should prevent them from being invoked. You can always undo it if the Editor doesn't behave properly afterwards.

If we can figure out how to do it, we can still pull pictures into the editor? Is that right? I also don't want to use the organizer. Would like to pull the pics in from My Pictures Folder.

Yes, you can still open pictures from your My Pictures folder or from any other place on your hard drive.
