    Default Actions/effects - pse10

I just upgrade to pse10 from pse7 (Windows Vista) and I am confused about where to install actions/effects.

Firstly, I don't know where they go in pse10 and secondly, do I install it as an action or an effect?

In a class I took actions where installed in the effects pallet and in another class I took actions were installed in actions. Now I have some actions as effects and some actions as actions in pse7. And of course, in pse10 I have nothing because I assume they need to be installed.

Any advice on managing and installing actions and effects would be greatly appreciated. Actions are still a bit of a mystery to me.

I hope my questions make sense.

    Thanks so much.

    Hi Wendi ...

If you are talking about .atn files then they are actions. Its just that there two placed you can install them ... either in the effects palette or in the action player.

Here is how to install them in the effects panel ... PSE10 Vista:

The .atn file, xml file and png file go here:

    C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Photo Creations\Photo Effects

Next rename the Mediadatabase.db3 to MediadatabaseOLD.db3 it is located at C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\10.0\Locale\ en-US and restart Elements ... the Mediadatabase.db3 will rebuild but you may have to wait a while for it to do so
