Default Need help fixing scanned matt finish photo

I am working on some photos from the 1970s that I scanned. Some are matt finish, and those appear to have little indentations all over them. Is there a way to fix that?

    Hi Beverly,
I'll try to help... but I'll need some info... what kind of scanner are you using? What resolution are you scanning the images at?

The little indentations youre referring to is the pebble grain paper that was used in the 1970s, and there are some things you can do to minimize that, even if it can't be eliminated entirely.

If you want, you can email me a high resolution copy of one of your images and I'll take a look and see if I can put together a plan for you.

They are awful to deal with ... last time I did one I found a tutorial by Flora that worked quite well.

I just posted a before and after of one of the photos that has the pebble grain finish. I had tried filters & photo effects and masks, but on this after photo, I used the Surface Blur Filter with a radius of 4 & a threshold of 12. This looks pretty good, but not perfect. I have been scanning more photos and realize I have a lot of this type. My daughter was born in 1976, and according to Jan, that's when they used this finish. Here is the link to the examples.

I'm thinking maybe a Tutorial could be prepared. Other members must have this same problem.
