Ready to print your digital scrapbook album?

One of the nice features of paperkiwi is that you see exactly how much of your page is trimmed due to the margins or hidden in the spine. And perhaps what I most appreciate is that, because it's a downloadable software, the uploading of photos takes only seconds. (That's because everything is done on your own PC. You don't upload the finished book until you're ready to publish it.) In other words, once I've added a page to my book (a jpeg file, just as in Shutterfly or Mixbook), whenever I make changes to that page, I don't have to delete and re-upload pages, as I would in Shutterfly or Mixbook. That's a major time-saver! I'm not a salesperson for paperkiwi, but having used Shutterfly for years, I find paperkiwi much easier. Haven't seen the quality of their finished books yet, but according to others, it's excellent. Will soon find out.

Have been checking out Viovio and have been pleased to find that they carry 8.5 by11 portrait size. so that is step one. Their online help responded quickly, within 1 day, to my questions. Would like to know if anyone else has used them.

I just got another album yesterday printed at paper kiwi.There were having a 60% sale for members of another digital scrapping site 5 year birthday sale and I just had to take advantage of that. I didn't have an album ready so I just put in miscellaneous random pages I made trying to coordinate them. I ordered the 10x10 size in soft cover.Turned out great. I love love this size .And I really like the soft cover too. Looks like a gorgeous magazine. I noticed that when I sent my album off to be printed on my front cover some of my page with alittle title work would be cut off but I was willing to live with that since i didn't have the time to fix that. Well they didn't cut it off.Paper kiwi fixed it!!! I was delighted to see they did that. they didn't have to.They went the extra mile.What I like most about paper kiwi is you can actually call them on the phone and talk to a real person if any questions etc.

Did you have any trouble with your layouts looking blurry in your photobook on the Shutterfly's website? I have made some 8 x 11 pages and loaded them into my book, but I find they look blurry. I have saved them 300 dpi at a quality of 9 (PSE 7). I have tried uploading them directly from my computer and adding them to my shutterfly account (taking off vivid pics) and they look blurry both ways.

Do you know if they will print out clear?

Guess I'm in the minority...I have had great results with Costco. So far, they have printed 5 12x12 books for me and I was very pleased with their quality and the quick turn around.

I've learned to leave 1 inch borders to be sure no journaling or elements are cut off or lost in the binding. I choose their full page layout and upload completed 12x12 pages.

The first book I got done, yes some of the photos looked a little blurry but the elements etc were sharp. I eventually decided the reason was that my original scans of the photos hadn't been very high resolution, and then I had adjusted them and cropped quite a lot, which all reduced the quality. In my next book the photos are fine because I was more aware of this problem.
And, incidentally, my second book was 12 x 12 and the majority of the layouts were in 200 ppi not 300, and they are absolutely fine. All elements are perfectly clear, so 200 seems to work just as well as 300.

Well, I have just had some 12 x 12 photobooks printed through Shutterfly and thought they were great! The Custom Path is really easy to use, and I had no problems with the cover or the title page like people were getting last year. The quality is very good too.

Hi, I just printed two 12x12 photobooks also with Shutterfly. I love the padded cover. Just make sure you live a little page border on each side and that way nothing will be cut off in the binding. I picked a multi-color layout album and coordinated them with my pages-you can also choose all white or black. The quality was excellent.
They had 50% off so the price was right also.
