Default I'm New & Having Unzip Problems

Could somehelp please! What file should I download purchased Kit files to?

Right now my 1st kit which is the Freebie offered in the Initial Lessons -- is sitting in my Download File (wasn't sure if that's the right file to use).

Once downloaded is that when I do the Extract option to Unzip them?

Then how do I access them from Photoshop Elements 9 -- once I have my 1st scrapbook page started?

Using Windows 7, Elements 9, Internet Explorer & sometimes Google Chrome.

Hope this makes sense as I'm really new & a bit lost.

    Thanks, Colleen

    Hi Colleen,
As you begin this journey into digital scrapping, take a few moments to think how you would like to store your downloads. Linda has a class on this that has helped many people. Don't be surprised to learn that you'll have thousands of items in a short while so it's wise to come up with a good filing system.

After extracting your download, one of the ways to access the content when you have PSE open is simply to use Control O and browse to the file where you have stored your download. There are other ways, depending on your set up, but this is the system I use. Let us know if this answers your question.

Colleen, when you first click Download, you need to click Save. Then tell your computer where to place the zipped file. After extracting your supplies, you need to have a system in place (you decide) on how to organize your supplies. Here's what I do.

    1. Under My Pictures, I created a folder called Scrapbooking.
    2. Under Scrapbooking, I have several folders (Kits, Templates, Tutorials); whatever you want.
    3. Under Kits, I create a folder for each kit; I name the folder the name of the kit. It is in this folder I keep all the supplies that come with the kit.
    4. Next, you need to figure out a way to tag all your supplies (bows, ribbons, buttons, borders, frames, etc.); that is, if you want to tag them. Tagging helps you to locate a type of element quickly; like if you want to look at all your frames.

I use ACDSee Photo Manager to manage all my photos and scrapbooking supplies. Many people use the Organizer that comes with PSE. Some people us Win7 which has limited tagging capabilities. And some people use some other type of management program.

Since you are new to scrapbooking, taking some of Linda's classes would be a great help. Look down through the list. There is one for getting organized and one for learning digital scrapbooking.

    Good luck!
