Saturday, I will be going with my father and aunt to a family reunion on my paternal grandmother's side. These are folks that I've never met, for the most part. The older part of the family that I did know have passed on, and I haven't seen any of the few older 3rd cousins in 20+ years.
Since my Dad doesn't even know most of the people we'll be seeing, stories of his youth are going to be pretty slim. But I thought I would try to go with a check list just to get lineage information, and whatever else I can get.
Help with me with a checklist of the things that I might want to try to get by the time we leave. I will be taking my camera and notes.

Hi Darcy
I do a lot of family history and I find drawing a rough family tree, then Using it to get people to give you more details works well. Also I ask people for stories about the people concerned and write notes from that.

Take some kind of recorder to record those stories...
I've gone with my dh to his family's reunions, so I just snap photos and share those for fun with the relatives since I'm more of an outsider...
